A Pap test is a simple screening test that can help prevent cervical cancer. It is separate and different from STI testing. A Pap test looks for abnormal cell changes on the cervix. CK Public Health provides pap tests to women who do not have a family doctor and meet the Cancer Care Ontario screening guidelines
- Age 21 or older who have engaged in any sort of sexual activity
- Have not had a Pap test in the past three years
- Have had an abnormal test and require further testing
How to prepare for your Pap test
- Book your appointment for a date when you are not expecting to have your period
- Don’t have sexual intercourse for 24 hours before your appointment
- Do not use any vaginal douches, vaginal medications/sprays/powders for 24 hours before your appointment
