• Rabies is a fatal disease that affects
  the brain and spinal cord of almost all mammals including humans.   
• It is spread by contact with saliva of an infected animal through bites or scratches in the skin. 
• Once you get rabies there is no cure. 
• Rabies vaccination will protect your pet and therefore your family.
  

This is why the Municipality of Chatham-Kent requires all cats and dogs over the age of 3 months to be vaccinated against rabies.  

If  your dog or cat is not up-to-date on its rabies vaccination the owner may face a fine of $110.
