What is Infection Prevention & Control?

Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) means stopping the spread of germs that can make people sick. This includes cleaning and disinfecting tools, surfaces, and equipment that are used more than once.

CK Public Health looks into all complaints about unsafe or incorrect IPAC practices.

IPAC Lapses

An IPAC lapse happens when infection control practices are not followed properly. This can lead to the spread of germs that cause illness. This may put clients, visitors, or staff at risk.

CK Public Health investigates all complaints of improper IPAC practices, including those related to:

  • Medical services provided by regulated health professionals
  • Licensed childcare centres and unlicensed home-based childcare
  • Schools
  • Recreational facilities, such as sports clubs
  • Temporary housing, such as shelters or housing for seasonal workers
  • Personal services settings

                  Disclaimer:

This website only shows reports for places where an IPAC lapse was found. A lapse may be found after someone made a complaint or referral, or through disease tracking.

It does not show places where a complaint or referral was checked but no lapse was found. These reports don't cover every place, and they don't mean that places listed or not listed are always free of lapses.

A lapse is based on what was seen during the inspection. Inspections happen when a possible lapse is reported to the Medical Officer of Health.

Each report is for one specific site only. If you want to read the full investigation report for a posted lapse, please contact CK Public Health.
