Water Advisories
CK Public Health will issue a water advisory to warn people if their water may be unsafe to drink. There are two types of water advisories:
- Boil water advisory
- Drinking water advisory
Boil Water Advisory

CK Public Health will issue a Boil Water Advisory if we find that water is unsafe to drink due to bacteria. Reasons for a Boil Water Advisory might include:
- An outbreak of illness related to drinking water
- A water main break
- Adverse water sample
- Evidence that water may not be properly treated
- Flooding
- Significant system pressure loss
What to do During a Boil Water Advisory
- Find a different water source that is safe, like bottled water, or
- Boil your water at a rolling boil for at least 1 minute to kill harmful bacteria before using it for:
- Drinking
- Making infant formula
- Mixing juice
- Making ice
- Cooking with water
- Brushing teeth
- Washing raw foods
- Making coffee in a coffeemaker

For larger water advisories, CK Public Health will share notices with the public through media releases and social media. When the water advisory ends there will be another media release and social media announcement.
CK Public Health Water Advisory Line
For information on Boil Water Advisories and Drinking Water Advisories, you can also call the CK Public Health Water Advisory Line and it will have the affected locations and when advisories are rescinded. Instructions for how to reach the Water Advisory Line are always included in advisory notices, media releases, and social media announcements.
CKAlert
