Radon

Almost 90 % of Lung Cancer deaths are caused by smoking.  Radon exposure is linked to approximately 10% of Lung Cancers in Canada and is the second leading cause of Lung Cancer in smokers.

Radon is a gas that is produced naturally by the breakdown of Uranium in the ground and gets in your home undetected.

You can’t see it, smell it or taste it.

The risk from Radon exposure is long term and depends on 3 things:

  • the level of Radon
  • how long you are exposed
  • your smoking habits

The only way to know if you have a Radon problem is to test for it.

Radon testing is available through certified service professionals or do it yourself kits that can be purchased at certain retail stores.
