How to Buy Low-Cost Birth Control
You need a prescription to buy birth control. You can get one from our Sexual Health Clinic or your healthcare provider.
- If your healthcare provider gives you a prescription, they must also fill out a Prescription for Low Cost Contraceptives Form before you buy from us.
Birth Control for New Mothers
Did you know breastfeeding can prevent pregnancy? This method is called the Lactational Amenorrhea Method (LAM). It works naturally by stopping the ovaries from releasing eggs for the six months after birth. LAM is 98% effective only if all these statements are true:
- Your baby is less than six months old, AND
- Your period has not returned since your baby was born (2 days of bleeding any time after your baby is eight weeks old is your period), AND
- Your baby gets only breastmilk (feeds baby breastmilk at least every 4 hours during the day and at least every six hours at night)
