Public Health Nurses Continue Essential Baby Immunizations

The COVID-19 pandemic has required an all-hands-on-deck response from CK Public Health. But that’s not all we’re doing. To wrap up nursing week, we want to introduce just a few of our passionate Public Health Nurses who continue to offer essential services that protect and promote the health of our community.

Meet Kris.

During the pandemic, Kris has been the sole operator answering questions on our immunization lines, fielding calls and booking appointments for baby vaccinations. Kris has worked in the vaccine world at CK Public Health for over 15 years and is a go-to expert.  She knows vaccinations are important, even during a pandemic.

“We know now more than ever, infection prevention and control is critical to the health and well-being of our community. Immunizations are important because they protect children and adults from serious vaccine preventable diseases and their complications. Immunizations build the body’s immunity to a disease before getting sick. They also protect others around you who may not be able to receive immunizations.”

Kris knew in high school that she wanted to be a nurse to help others and make a difference in her community. Kris is passionate about public health nursing because the education and services she provides helps prevent health issues and supports people to stay well.

The Baby Immunization program provides immunizations for young children at 2, 4, 6, 12, 15 and 18 months, as well as pre-school immunizations for children 4-6 years of age.
