Public Health Nurses Support Healthy Growth & Development During Pandemic

From breastfeeding support, hospital visits and postpartum follow up, prenatal education, mental health support, and education on all things pregnancy, birth, parenting, and child growth and development – those are just a few areas our Public Health Nurses with the Healthy Growth and Development team cover. And, they are continuing to offer services through the pandemic.

Karen (pictured above) has worked at CK Public Health for over 17 years. She has a wide range of knowledge and skills in all areas of healthy growth and development, but is most well-known for her passion and expertise in breastfeeding.

“I came to this team because I was fortunate to have a group of women around me that supported me to be the best mother I could be when I was on that journey. Raising children is one of the most important jobs for parents and I believe every parent deserves to be supported to make the best choices for them and their child. I love having the opportunity to provide evidence-based, up-to-date information for my clients so they can feel empowered and confident. We are able to help families thrive and help their children reach their highest potential.”

Shelley, a Public Health Nurse who has been with CK Public Health for over 17 years, feels honoured to be involved in the early years of a child’s life and to support parents and families.

“As nurses, we know the importance of the information and services we provide to parents, and how it can influence a child’s early years and contribute to healthy growth and development.”
