In August 2017, CK Public Health began an assessment to learn about opioid use and related harms in our community.

On February 21st 2019, the CK Public Health “Substance Use Working Group” hosted a meeting to share assessment findings with community partners. The working group brought together front-line service providers, decision-makers, peers, and community members from different organizations across Chatham-Kent.

Resources developed for this event included:

·         a summary report that shares high level findings from the assessment

·         an infographic with recent local data

Going forward CK Public Health will be looking at four key areas. They are:

·         Crystal Methamphetamine

·         Opioid Next Steps

·         Stigma

·         Upstream Prevention

These priorities were identified in the assessment by community partners. CK Public Health will continue to work together with community organizations and substance use experts to address these important issues.
