Planning to have friends and family over for a BBQ for this season?

Here are some tips to handle food safely to prevent these food borne illnesses:

  • Clean – Always wash hands before handling food. Use clean dishes and equipment to handle and serve food.
  • Separate – Keep raw food separate from ready to eat and cooked food during preparation and storage.
  • Cook – Cook meats to safe internal temperatures, using a probe thermometer.
  • Chill – Keep hazardous food like meats, milk and milk products  cold at 4 degree Celsius or colder.

Remember when in doubt throw it out!
